Remington-Elliot Ring Trigger 5-Shot .22 Caliber Derringer, #12443, .22 RF cal., 3" fluted 5-shot barrel assembly, nickel finish, blued ring trigger mechanism and barrel release lever, period two-piece ivory grips, small bead front sight, and notched rear sight. Barrel address is marked in two-line "MANUFACTURED BY E. REMINGTON & SONS. ILION, N.Y./ELLIOTS PATENTS. MAY 29, 1860-OCT. 11, 1861". Manufactured circa 1863-1870, total production was approx. 25,000, with estimated production in .22 caliber being around 7,500. Overall condition is fine, retaining approx. 93%-95% nickel finish, with intermittent spots of very mild flaking. Blue finish shows moderate darkening. Beautifully toned ivory grips are in fine condition. Markings are sharp. Action functions correctly, but sluggish for the ring trigger returning to its forward position. Bores are fair with visible rifling and scattered erosion. An exceptional example of this scarce Remington derringer. Est.: $600-$800. (Antique) (Michael Strietbeck Collection)
